district0x Dev Update - June 13th, 2017

  • A network of decentralized marketplaces and communities

Last week we introduced the district0x Network, a collective of decentralized marketplaces and communities powered by Ethereum, Aragon, and IPFS. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our Slack to learn more about our project and share their feedback with us so far!

Today we share our initial development update, outlining what we’ve been working on the past few weeks. We are big believers in transparency, so from here on out we intend to provide an update every 2 weeks. Here’s whats new…

A couple of months have passed since our last Ethlance development update. In that time we’ve added a few new features, the most noteworthy of those being job sponsorships, invitation only listings, and the ability to edit job posts.

Job sponsorships provide a way for non-profits and community projects to accept donations for the completion of specific tasks. When creating a sponsored job listing, the poster is asked to specify authorized addresses which are approved to spend the funds collected to pay invoices. Upon completion of the job, any excess contributions can be returned to donators.

Invitation only listings allow for the creation of posts that are hidden from search, do not send out job recommendation email notifications, and to which only ‘invited’ freelancers may apply.

d0xINFRA is a framework comprised of Ethereum smart contracts and front-end libraries which all districts on the network will be built upon. The architecture is modeled on the Ethlance stack. Front-end d0xINFRA libraries will also be utilized for our CarbonVote implementation voting-interface and for our contribution period, and are currently under development.

After much consideration, we have decided to utilize the MiniMe Token, introduced by Jordi Baylina, for the district0x Network Token. As a result, the district0x Genesis Contract has been rewritten and tests are currently being run before freezing to send to off for audits. We plan to have a minimum of 3 independent audits performed before the start of the contribution period.
