    Ontology is an integrated multi-chain and multi-system framework composed of different industries and
    regions that pass through Ontology's protocols to allow mapping between different chains and
    traditional information systems. For this reason, Ontology is also referred to as “Ontology Chain Group”
    or “Ontology Chain Network”, that is, a connector between blockchains.

    At Ontology’s core is a complete distributed ledger system, including the Core Ledger, smart contract
    system, and security system. The distributed ledger is an important underlying storage infrastructure of
    Ontology; the decentralized, mutually managed, and tamper-proof features of distributed ledger
    technology are key to creating trust between entities in the network. The distributed ledger includes a
    consensus and smart contract system, and provides consensus, storage, and smart contract support for
    the upper application framework. Ontology and its distributed ledger technology use a decoupled
    architecture (which is the default for the Ontology Ledger) that can support NEO, Ethereum, and other
    blockchains as the underlying layer. At the ledger level, we creatively propose a shared data contract
    model that decouples data storage and business logic, and implements different business logic with the
    use of smart contracts to improve the scalability and flexibility of the architecture on the whole.
    The distributed trust framework is the core logic layer of Ontology. We use ONT ID to connect different ID
    authentication services and provide a source of trust for people, money, goods, and things. ONT ID is
    decentralized, self-manageable, privacy-protected, and safe and easy to use. The trust framework
    establishes a distributed trust model and distributed trust delivery system through verifiable claims[1][2],
    and uses the CL signature algorithm and zero-knowledge proof protocol to assure privacy protection of
    verifiable claims.
    Ontology uses a series of protocol standards. Proposals include an identity protocol, multi-source
    authentication protocol, user authorization protocol, and distributed data exchange protocol. A range of
    protocols that are compatible internationally are implemented, such as DID[3] designed by W3C. The
    cryptographic signature protocol also supports cryptography such as the Chinese national cryptography
    standard, RSA, and ECDSA. The distributed data exchange system is compatible with the widely used
    authorization protocols, e.g. Oauth[4] and UMA[5], to enable the architecture to meet the goal of being
    open and standardized, and to support future extensive ecological cooperation and expansion.
    For application service provision, Ontology provides the infrastructure for application developers to
    directly provide distributed services on top of Ontology without having knowledge of how to develop
    distributed systems. In short, Ontology provides a series of application frameworks, including APIs, SDKs,
    and various application modules that allow application service providers with a wide range of
    technological backgrounds to develop their own dApps and make dApps as a Service (DAAS). This makes
    blockchain easy to use for all.
    Ontology also includes a variety of advanced modules: cryptography and data protection modules, data
    exchange markets, global transaction databases, hybrid oracle, unlimited consensus engines, and more.
    In the future, Ontology will develop a community of developers and business partners, continuously
    enriching applications and modules to promote the technological development of Ontology’s ecosystem.


    The aim of Ontology is to build a bridge between the real world and distributed data systems. Due to the
    diversity, complexity, and specialization of businesses in the real world, considerations in performance,
    scalability, and applicability must be taken into consideration, of which it is hard to use one public chain/
    affiliated chain network to support all scenarios. In practice, different business logics require different
    chains to meet the needs of different scenarios with different access methods and governance models.
    Also, many business scenarios do not exist independently, and require diversified interaction with other
    scenarios. Therefore, different protocols need to be provided between these different chains to support
    inter-service process cooperation.

    Based on these requirements and models, Ontology proposes a hyper-converged chain group, which
    takes the form of a matrix grid. In a horizontal area there may be public chains that provide basic
    common services, such as entity mapping, protocol support for data exchange, and smart contract
    services. On one or more public blockchains, each industry, geographical area, and business scenario can
    have its own unique service chain that can meet its requirements for access, compliance, governance,
    consensus, etc. Each can also use public chains to provide basic services, such as entity authentication,
    data exchange protocols, etc., as well as collaborate with other businesses.

    In addition to the use of the public chain, there will also be collaborations with chains related to the
    industry of the specific business. Under different collaborations, the service chains involved may also
    vary, so there may be some small dedicated public/affiliate service chains that cooperate with one or
    several service chains or service points for specific business requirements. Therefore, in the vertical area,
    many business collaboration chains will emerge that will include special cross-chain collaborative
    support for smart contract services, business logic services, etc.
    The matrix grid architecture can form a truly autonomous next-generation, versatile network. Different
    business scenarios can find different ways to apply the right service model through a wide range of
    collaborative methods.
    The various protocols in Ontology are not static and users can choose different protocols according to
    different business scenarios, industry features, regulatory requirements, and governance requirements.
    Therefore, in Ontology, protocols will continue to be part of the development process, though the main
    aim is to maximize usability with different protocols and standards within each scenario to make
    Ontology have better compatibility and scalability with the world.
    Ontology uses its distributed ledger framework to satisfy different scenarios with the implementation of
    one or more configurable blockchains. The distributed ledger framework can also customize the service
    chain for specific business scenarios (e.g. different mechanisms for access, governance, consensus,

    The internet is the great infrastructure of our time. It has deeply supported and influenced our personal lives, businesses, and other aspects of our lives. We at Ontology think that it would hard to create an alternative to the internet in the next few years. The plan for the “next-generation internet” is to use blockchain technology to enhance/improve upon some of the pain points of the internet.

    The internet has provided us with an abundance of information and several ways to discover it, but addressing the pain points of the internet lie in filtering, identifying, and verifying information while ensuring privacy protection and safe handling of personal data. Each of these have continued to become more urgent needs for the internet.

    Ontology hopes to establish a “blockchain trust zone” within the internet based on Ontology’s blockchain network and trust collaboration platform. In this area people can carry out fast and automated identification and verification of all types of people, assets, things, affairs, information, and services. As a trusted area of the internet, it will also provide technical support for privacy protection and safe handling of personal data. Regardless of its coverage in the first phase, the zone will provide valuable support for specific scenarios and be the first step in the development of the next generation of the internet.

    In the future governments, businesses, organizations, and communities from across the world will be able to participate in the development of the next-generation internet using this model.     The Separation of the Public Chain Network and Distributed Trust Platform

    The Ontology projects have two strategic lines: one is a new generation high-performance public chain and chain network system, and the other is a distributed trust collaboration platform and trust ecosystem. Therefore, there are two sets of project considerations to be made.

    The reason why we designed it this way is because we realized Ontology has two roles. Blockchain does solve the problem of trust, but this underlying layer alone cannot satisfy the needs of all participating entities. At that stage a product would only be half complete. Several common modules providing various types of distributed trust services are needed to support real business scenarios, such as a distributed identity framework, distributed data exchange protocol, distributed reputation and evaluation system, distributed community framework, and so on.

    Only when these two components are integrated together can we have a distributed collaboration platform that can support real businesses. Throughout this process we must uphold the importance of technical specialization; the Ontology team are currently separated into distinct groups focusing on different directions, fields, and modules. For the developer community, when we list out large strategic plans, individuals or groups can choose fields/modules they feel they are good at and develop services and applications for the ecosystem. Using this process professional teams or smaller groups can contribute to a larger strategy and maintain direction.

    Project implementation and promotion

    Whereas there is a clear strategic plan for the project, we do not want to adopt a centralized development approach. Although each core layer and each module have their own unique role, they can be applied to different scenarios. Each version release can support a new application scenario, allowing for an agile rapid iterative development process.

    Each stage introduces a usable version for certain fields. In each quarter, Ontology will perform function upgrades, expand the application scope of the entire platform, and gradually improve in engineering design, upgrade coordination, quality control, and other issues. However, from the development experience of the internet, the traditional waterfall development model is no longer appropriate. Blockchain’s future is continuously changing, so the best practice for each scenario is to be in a continuous exploration process. This is where agile rapid iteration development comes in, as it allows for new features and enhancements to be continuously introduced. This will ensure the overall performance and coverage of the platform.

    Both Ontology’s core team and all technical community partners will be involved in the process of agile rapid iterative development. Together everyone will work towards the large strategic direction, combining their own ideas and respective backgrounds and experience. Constantly exploring the integration of distributed trust applications into different industries will be an important aspect of the public chain community project.

    At present, the Ontology team has completed the first version of the core high-performance public chain and modularized blockchain framework. We have also completed important basic modules such as the distributed identity framework and distributed data exchange protocol for the distributed trust platform. We will launch MainNet in accordance with the progress of TestNet, and then begin to cooperate with the technical community and continue to promote agile rapid iterative development. Ontology will have its functionality upgraded during each development cycle, which will ensure that each upgrade can be used as a complete stand-alone product that can be applied to different fields, with each upgrade including a usable blockchain function.

    The Ontology Foundation and the NEO Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on May 14th, 2018, concerning strategy and technology integration.

    Whereas: Ontology is a distributed trust network that focuses on digital identity, data exchange and other trust collaboration scenarios. NEO is dedicated to realizing a distributed network that serves the smart economy. Under this premise, Ontology’s infrastructure can connect distributed services across application scenarios and interact with people, assets, objects, and affairs.     After several months of intense product design and development, Ontology’s official app ONTO is finally here! The first version available to the public is 0.8.4 (for Android 6.0 and above). An iOS version will be released when ONTO’s iOS App Store listing is ready. There will also be a desktop wallet application, which is scheduled for August.

    After completing ONT ID registration, you can use ONT ID for identity authentication services for various trust sources by obtaining necessary verifiable claims (blockchain certificates). Blockchain certificates will be used in other authentication and authorization scenarios to achieve one-time blockchain authentication which can be used multiple times in multiple scenarios.

    Wallet transactions and ONG claim

    The current wallet supports transactions of MainNet ONT and ONG transactions. It also supports claiming ONG, which is released gradually from ONT.

    In ONTO, MainNet ONT mapping does not require a mapping address; you only need to enter the mapping amount wallet password. You can check your mapping progress in ONTO directly.

  • Ontology Project Progress and Future Plans

    Dear all,

    Ontology MainNet, “Ontology 1.0”, officially launched on June 30th and is stable after several weeks of operation. The Ontology team would now like to share with the community Ontology’s progress in its current state, as well as our future plans.

    Ontology MainNet, Ontology 1.0

    Ontology MainNet 1.0 is a complete blockchain public chain platform and distributed trust cooperative platform which includes the following module functions:

    1. Dual-Token Economic Model

    • Cost-benefit settlement model, for blockchain node operations, network management, and dApp services.
    • Governance model based on the economic model.

    2. Consensus mechanism which matches the governance model.

    • VBFT uses PoS to support economic governance and VRF to extend the consensus participation group. In Q1, it has already supported 42 nodes and ensured finality with BFT.
    • VBFT rapid support for business-level project demands.

    3. Complete Smart Contract System

    • Original native contract system. We believe some basic protocols should be available on-chain which represent universal values, just like laws. A larger value network is supported by these basic protocols. For example, we have now defined attested value, identity, authority management, governance pattern, etc., and we plan to have Oracle, atomic swap contract, and more. We have optimized the general protocols to provide faster management and cheaper costs.
    • Shared smart contract system jointly developed by an Ontology and NEO joint working group with Turing completeness.

    A cross-system and cross-region distributed ledger and distributed identity management and authentication framework (can be used on people, objects, and virtual content) without a central administrator or centralized database.

    5. Comprehensive Client Application ONTO

    ONTO already has ONT ID management and digital assets management, with several attestation types including CFCA and social media accounts. We have worked together with NCC group, Baimaohui, SlowMist, and other security audit institutions to enhance the security of client-end applications so users can securely and safely manage their digital identities and assets. Furthermore, ONTO will connect and apply to more scenarios, support more trust anchors, and work with more dApps, to become a comprehensive application product for Ontology trust ecosystem.

    6. Ontology Blockchain Explorer

    Ontology blockchain explorer provides blockchain, transaction, and ONT ID checking and status monitoring to provide attestation authentication for the trust ecosystem and provide high-efficiency inquiry services for people, assets, objects, and affairs on-chain through TSE (Trust Search Engine) integration.

    7. Smart Contract Development and Application Platform SmartX

    SmartX is Ontology’s comprehensive smart contract development and application platform that currently supports Python and C# for smart contract development. We are optimizing compiler and user experience to continuously improve development efficiency. More development language support will be available at a later stage.

    8. Ontology Integration

    Building a product solution package for the Ontology technical ecosystem, integrating multiple independent product modules from comprehensive client applications, traditional internet client applications, and dApps to the Ontology blockchain, realizing a complete end-to-end blockchain solution.

    Ontology Work Progress

    1. Service Partnerships: Ontology has partnered with important partners such as CFCA for China identity services, and is also in contact with well-known biometric identification service providers and related partners. Internationally, we have finalized a partnership with IdentityMind for KYC services and will continue to have more service partners in different countries and continents.

    2. Ecosystem Applications: Several application ecosystems using Ontology technology in different sectors are currently under development. We work with teams such as COT who provide a smart hardware and IoT platform, PTS who are a new-generation credit service network , DAD who focus on distributed advertisement distribution and cooperation, Contentos who are committed to use blockchain technology to rebuild the content ecosystem, BDN who are a business data network based on blockchain technology, and Cocos who are a one-stop mobile game development solutions platform. We also cooperate externally with CarBlock, the first decentralized car business market based on car data, as well as LianAn Technology and CertiK on security.

    3. Governance Nodes: Ontology has 42 nodes in total and has built a complete economic model and compensation model.

    Ontology Triones nodes recruitment will remain open. Whether you are a node applicant, operator, or individual, you can join Ontology’s governance and operation in different ways. Ontology will also keep the process open and transparent. Ontology has designed a generous compensation model for individuals and institutions that take part in node governance and will continue to give long-term compensation. The value of Ontology will also improve with the expansion and increase of Ontology’s applications.

    4. Ecosystem Cooperation: Ontology is the first blockchain project from China to join the DIF and the first blockchain project to become an IEEE member.

    5. Community Expansion: Ontology has designed and released technical communication compensation guidelines and also released the first batch of compensation to the technical community. We welcome more developers to join the technical community and look forward to hearing more ideas and see more contributions. For further details, please refer to this article.

    6. Accelerator: Accelerating Ontology ecosystem members from early development and helping blockchain adoption in some application scenarios to support the digitalization of the real economy. All mature products, application platforms, or companies can use blockchain. Already COT, BDN, and some projects have joined the accelerator program, and we plan to have more than 20 enterprises/projects joining the program before the end of the year.

    7. Fund: Ontology Global Capital has invested in Points, CarBlock, Contentos, Fission Capital, DAD, Cocos, CertiK, BDN, Hardron, GAEA, Blockchainer, Blockchain of the World, and more. Ontology will focus on deploying distributed business scenarios that are implementable, with users and real requirements in blockchain and the real economy. This will encourage more users to use trusted and reliable Ontology blockchain services to form an active and valuable application ecosystem.

    8. Team Building: In the recent months, we have another batch of top talent join Ontology, contributing to our business, technology, research, and product teams. Ontology has now developed into one of the largest public blockchain teams with coming close to 100 members. Our research design, engineering work, solutions, and business development are at the forefront of the industry and are improving continuously to guarantee the success of Ontology’s future developments.

    9. Technology Research: The Ontology research team is functioning well and continues to expand. It carried out a large amount of basic technical research and design on blockchain and security code, and formed research groups with many universities for joint research and project realization on a number of frontier issues. The first output of research findings will be ready in Q3-Q4. At the same time, preparation for an Ontology research institute will start.

    • Continue to optimize the smart contract system. Based on the characteristics of Ontology’s ecosystem, further optimize existing smart contracts of the first phase, enabling the Ontology smart contract system to support more complicated business logic, provide more efficient cross chain contract invocation, and provide a more convenient, more secure contract development tool for Ontology ecosystem smart contract developers at application level.


    • DDXF, which supports blockchain-based exchanges, to provide a foundational service for increasing on-chain circulation.
    • New DataToken regulations to bring more industries to blockchain and further support decentralized data exchange and off-chain collaboration. While supporting the non-homogeneity of each token, it also supports an evaluation system.
    • Support for a trust system based on ONT ID and trust scenarios with multiple parties involved. Using the ONT ID and attestation system, we will adopt more trust anchors and connect finance, credit investigation, KYC, data exchange, process collaboration, and more scenarios.
    • Continue to optimize SmartX, upgrade the Python compiler, provide contract formal verification function, and support multi-party collaboration and exchange contract based on DDXF. At the same time, implement a compensation package, integrate a fair governance policy, and reflect on each participant’s contribution to combine smart contract compilation, transaction, collaboration, and community construction. This will form a healthy smart contract development ecosystem.
    • The Ontology technical community will participate in the planning, design, and implementation of technology planning.
    • As blockchain uses decentralized theory as the foundation for system infrastructure, the infrastructure makes use of competition to continuously innovate.

    Academic and Technical Research

    Blockchain technology innovation is inseparable from the support of advanced academic theory. Ontology continues to track theory, transforming the research spirit to engineering. Ontology will carry out the following in terms of research direction:

    • Network protocol research to analyze, research, and optimize DHT protocol’s performance, quantify related network protocol performance, and perform prototype verification.
    • Cryptography research, especially the research on cryptography primitives including threshold cryptography and zero-knowledge proof. Emphasis on support for different consensus algorithms for blockchain applications.
    • Consensus randomization research based on a large-scale open network to provide theory support for security, finality, and robustness problems that future public chains may confront.
    • Continue to track new possible technologies and provide theoretical foundation for secure and highly efficient public chains.


    The vision of the Ontology ecosystem is to build a trusted and reliable internet. We will open community products for the Ontology ecosystem, including an Ontology-based technology marketplace to work as an open technical service exchange for the Ontology ecosystem. Ontology’s technical contributor plan provides more opportunities for projects and volunteers to contribute and compensate accordingly. The technical community achievements exhibition will provide a platform for the community to show their work and communicate. Ontology’s technical articles further promote communication between Ontology’s core research and development team and the greater technical community. We will share more technical thoughts in Ontology’s development and exploration process, and promote closer cooperation between our core team and the technical community.


    As of now, Ontology has English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, and other language Telegram and Discord groups, as well as white papers in English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and Dutch, and an official website in English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Ontology also has international employees who are in charge of the development of our international communities.

    In terms of external communication, Ontology has opened official accounts on international and domestic accounts such as Medium, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn, and more. We also release Ontology updates through media and communities internationally.

    Regarding offline activities, recently Ontology has held London and Tokyo community meetups, a US MainNet Pre-Launch event, as well as two technical sharing sessions in Shanghai. Ontology team members have been actively participating in major industry forums internationally and have continued to promote Ontology’s concepts and core technical advantages to the public and different industries.

  • OWallet, Ontology’s Official Desktop Wallet, Version 0.8.1 Release 

    OWallet, Ontology’s official desktop wallet, has now been officially released, you can download it here: https://github.com/ontio/OWallet/releases.   OWallet offers three wallet types for you to use: individual wallets, shared wallets, and Ledger hardware wallet support. OWallet currently has Windows and macOS versions.

    OWallet individual wallet features

    (using OWallet v0.8.1 macOS version as an example)

    When downloading OWallet for the first time, please select the keystore save location.

    1. Create an individual wallet

    Choose a name and password for the individual wallet.

    After you’ve created your individual wallet, the wallet home page will show information including the wallet address, public key (which can be used for shared wallets), ONT and ONG asset balance and the ONT balance price in USD, claimable and unbound ONG balance, transaction history, as well as send and receive functions for MainNet ONT.

    2. Import individual wallet (using keystore, private key, WIF, and mnemonic phrase)

    3. Export individual wallet     Note: Please keep exported wallet files safe. Wallet files can be imported using the keystore.

    4. Send assets with an individual wallet   Click “send”.

    Select asset type, enter the asset amount and receiver address.

    Confirm the transaction information.

    After the transaction is completed you can check it in “completed transactions”.

    5. Receive assets with an individual wallet

    Click “Receive” to receive your wallet address which you can provide to others to receive transactions. Mobile wallets can directly scan the QR code.

    6. Redeem ONG   Click “Redeem”

    Each redeem ONG costs 0.01 ONG.

    OWallet shared wallet features

    1. Create shared wallet (using “sharetest” as an example)

    Enter the shared wallet name, then enter the names of the copayers and their corresponding public keys to their wallets (the minimum of copayers is 2 and the maximum is 12).


    Set the transaction rules for the shared wallet. This example has three participants, and two of them are required to make a transaction.

    After you’ve created your shared wallet, the wallet home page will show information including the wallet address, ONT and ONG asset balance and the ONT balance price in USD, the shared wallet rule, the name of the participants and their individual wallet addresses, pending transaction information, completed transaction information, as well as send and receive functions for MainNet ONT.

    2. Send assets with a shared wallet and signature sequence confirmation

    On the shared wallet home page click “Send” to initiate a shared wallet transaction.

    Select asset type, enter the asset amount and receiver address.

    Select the shared wallet sponsor and drag to adjust the signature confirmation order. Please note that once the signature is confirmed, it cannot be changed. The sponsor is the first to confirm the signature, and the subsequent signatures must be signed in order. (In this example there are three wallet participants. After the first and second participants sign the confirmation the transfer is successful).

    Confirm the signature sequence.

    After the shared transaction is initiated it enters a pending state. After all required participants have signed the confirmation, the transaction can be completed and the balance and complated transactions will update.

    3. Receive assets with a shared wallet   Click “Receive” to receive the shared wallet address which you can provide to others to receive transactions. Mobile wallets can directly scan the QR code.

    4. Join shared wallet

    Click “Join Wallet” and enter the shared wallet address. You can also use shared wallet addresses from ONTO.

    OWallet Ledger features

    Go to Ledger and click “Import Ledger”.

    Set your wallet name and connect your Ledger hardware wallet to your computer. Once connected, you can use Ledger to manage your MainNet ONT more securely.

    • To import MainNet ONT from O3 or SEA wallets, select the “WIF” import method. The reason is because O3 and SEA both use the WIF private key format, which starts with “K” or “L” and is 52 characters in total.
    • OWallet 0.8.1 does not support NEP-5 ONT token swap. The next version will support the token swap.
    • OWallet shared wallet can be used with the ONTO shared wallet. The screenshots below show a shared wallet simultaneously used in OWallet and ONTO.

  • Ontology Community GIF Sticker Design Competition

    Ontology, a new high-performance public multi-chain project and a distributed trust collaboration platform, provides new high-performance public blockchains that include a series of complete distributed ledgers and smart contract systems.

    This GIF sticker competition is open to the whole Ontology community. It is aimed to select stickers which demonstrate Ontology’s key characteristics such as decentralization, innovation, high-performance, and so on (while still being fun!) for use in online communities.

    Candidates who design the GIF stickers have ownership of their stickers. Candidates will agree to authorize Ontology community members to use and share their stickers within the Ontology community for non-commercial use.

  • Spuul, Movie Platform with 60 Million Users, to Build new dApp Spokkz on Ontology

    Ontology, a new high-performance public multi-chain project and a distributed trust collaboration platform, and Spokkz, a new content dApp produced by Spuul, have announced a partnership to build Spokkz on the Ontology MainNet, using Ontology technical infrastructure for their new platform.

    Spokkz was born of Spuul, an existing platform which gives its 60 million users across Asia and the world the ability to stream, download, and watch over 10,000 hours of Bollywood movies. With Spokkz, the team aims to go further than simple tokenization of the content industry. The Bollywood-led media machine leaves numerous markets out of their model. Meanwhile Malaysia, Indonesia, and India are huge markets for media, but they are all ignored by studios that cater to the so called “first-world” demographic. When people are on the Spuul platform, the Spokkz token will let them connect directly with media producers, and support narratives that tell the stories they find meaningful.

For this reason, please make sure you know your ONT type and receiving address type before making a transaction;

  • Ontology’s Korea MainNet Event Draws Large Crowd

    Ontology, a new high-performance public multi-chain project and a distributed trust collaboration platform, held its MainNet launch event in Seoul, South Korea, on August 18th. The event brought together blockchain industry elites and Ontology ecosystem partners to present the launch of Ontology 1.0 in Korea.

    At the beginning of the conference, Hyeong Joo Kim, Chairman of the Korea Blockchain Industry Promotion Association, delivered an opening speech. He said:

    “As the core technology of the ‘fourth industrial revolution’, blockchain will change people’s lifestyles.”

    He expressed his intent to unite the community and everyone’s strength to improve the legal and regulatory system needed for this industrial revitalization.

    LI Jun, Founder of Ontology, followed, giving a keynote speech detailing the key aspects of Ontology’s technology, products, and ecosystem.

    LI Jun then gave a detailed introduction to Ontology ecosystem partners. Ontology has always adhered to a “real economy” strategy and has now entered partnerships covering the automobile industry, IoT, financial credit, digital advertising, medical health, games, content, audio and video, security, and other fields. This close integration will continue to blossom as more partners develop dApps and cooperate in other ways with Ontology’s technology, whilst ensuring the security of the entire ecosystem.

  • Ontology Decentralized Identifier (DID) Formally Added to the W3C-CCG DID Method Registry

    Ontology Decentralized Identifier (DID) has been formally added to the W3C-CCG DID Method Registry as a new Decentralized Identifier Method.

    DIDs are a new type of identifier for verifiable, “self-sovereign” digital identity, the current draft specification was published by the W3C Credentials Community Group.

    Ontology has become the third open-source public chain to implement the DID specification, after Bitcoin and Ethereum.

  • Ontology Holds Japan Community MainNet Event in Tokyo

    Ontology, a new high-performance public multi-chain project and a distributed trust collaboration platform, held its community Japan MainNet event in Ginza, Tokyo, on August 25th. Many blockchain developers, media, and community members gathered to discuss current blockchain technology development and plans ahead.

    First, Ontology’s Founder LI Jun gave a speech on Ontology’s vision. He also gave an example of commerce, pointing out that any “simple” transaction requires multiple factors to trust. This shows the necessity for a distributed trust ecosystem like that of Ontology’s.

    He then introduced how to use Ontology’s official comprehensive client ONT, desktop wallet OWallet, smart contract development tool SmartX, and other applications. ONTO will help users manage their digital identity and digital assets, participate in distributed data exchange, and more. SmartX provides diversified smart contract templates and a strong online editor. Those who require smart contracts can refer to and use contract templates or entrust community developers to customize templates for them; these tools can bring more convenience to everyday work scenarios. Speaking on this, LI Jun said:

    “This Ontology-developed software can enable users to manage and collaborate with family, friends, or colleagues without supervision, meaning we are allowed to put more trust in technology”.

    Regarding the technical community, LI Jun invited more developers to join Ontology’s community and co-build the trust ecosystem. Ontology has allocated 10% of all ONT for the technical community.

    Mathias Glintborg, Ontology’s Global Development Manager, explained Ontology community development further. Ontology’s bounty program is currently underway, individual developers and teams can apply to participate in tasks via the Ontology official website and give feedback to the program. Ontology welcomes all creative and innovative ideas.

    Ontology’s ecosystem partners also brought great speeches to the event. The VP of blockchain digital advertisement platform DAD, Leslie Wu, said:

    Kelvin Yan, VP of Engineering of CarBlock, the world’s first decentralized car business market, explained:

    “CarBlock already has around 410,285 active users worldwide and uses 56 types of car data. This market has huge volume and development potential. Along with Ontology’s chain network and CarBlock’s car data blockchain protocol-level solution, car businesses can achieve fair data transactions and promote a new smart transport ecosystem”.

    During the roundtable, speaking on the technology development environment in China and Japan, Founder of Ontology LI Jun said:

    “In China, the number of users is huge and the demand is diverse.     After the meeting, Ontology’s Founder LI Jun, Chief Strategy Officer Andy Ji, and Business Development Director Daniel Wen were interviewed by several local Japanese media. Speaking on Ontology’s MainNet, Andy Ji said:

    “Since the official launch of Ontology 1.0 on June 30th, our team continues to push forward with our timeline. At present, we have dApps in many fields such as advertising, audio, video, and finance. There will be many more dApps in the near future”.

Ontology will later hold a hackathon in Tokyo and will continue to discuss cooperation with several Japanese developers and partners.
